No relationship is successful or strong without three things. Communication, trust and love. So first we need to learn the communication of horses, horses. Speak horse. Some people may think what is this crazy lady speaking about 🤦🏼‍♀️

But just take a moment to really think about what your reading, in our general life our relationships would suffer if we didn’t communicate, if we didn’t have trust and if we didn’t come from a loving place. This is no different with your horse when your building your relationship.

Communicating with horses is about body language and your energy. As we know horses pick up on energy and emotions so it’s important we are emotionally strong and our energy is right.

The horse wants to feel safe and secure when in your company, he wants to know who is going to lead who and what his job is. Sometimes you need to let your horse know that his job is just to be a horse and nothing else, letting him express himself. Be himself and feel ok within himself around you.

Now trust, trust can take time. Horses are prey animals and some may trust easier than others. I personally believe blues only just really trusting me and my judgment now, And this may be because in the past I’ve been unconfident and unsure on my abilities. But that’s ok. We will all get there,

Learn to follow your horse and then your horse will follow you, you can do this in and out of the saddle. Maybe by letting yourself move when he moves, not to be so stiff. To let yourself go a little.

And Love. Love is something that can be taught, if you don’t come from a loving place when your handling horses then it just isn’t going to work in my opinion. We all start we desire and love for our horses, and this should carry on throughout all our training and handling with horses...
