Occupational hazard

𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀...

The desire to change the horse world one day at a time is an absolute must for me. The stigma around how one should be if they have horses or work with horses is something that makes people reconsider their passion, and if horses put that fire in your belly go for it!

Ok so when we think about people who have horses, or people who have a career in horses people often think of someone who has been brought up with horses. Someone who has a bank full of money, someone who can ride at a high level, goes out competing and will jump the highest of fences. Someone who has all the experience with the certificates to show for it.

But where does that leave the people like me? The girl who has always adored horses but was brought up on a council estate. The girl who has always loved horses but couldn’t afford lessons so YouTubed everything, the girl that’s always loved horses and has been told to take up a different “hobby”. The girl who’s always loved horses but wasn’t brought up around them so who is self taught, the girl who’s always loved horses that I bought my first horse with my Tax rebate instead of getting my drivers licence.

Where does that leave us?

Feeling inadequate,

Feeling insecure,

Feeling like a fraud,

Feeling like we’re missing something.

But why? Who said the best of the best are people who have come from money, experience and the best training. Because they’re not, some are yes, but not all.

So yes I am a girl who comes from a small town known for being one big council estate. But I’m also the girl that has grafted, cried, laughed, learnt and is finally getting somewhere...

So if your feeling inadequate, insecure, like a fraud or like your missing something. Don’t because the only thing your missing is that one person to help you get where you need to be.

Don’t be put off by the person who has had the pleasure to be brought up around horses and who tells you, your never going to make it.

Because I promise you, you will. 🧡
